Whether your child has just received a diagnosis or you are ready for a change in services or providers it can certainly be a daunting task to get an ABA program in place. It can seem like the paper is endless and after waiting for a diagnosis it can be frustrating to wait longer until help arrives.
Here is a simple breakdown of the steps to help guide you on this journey. INITIAL CONSULTATION: A brief conversation over the phone or in-person should take place to decide if this is the right provider for you. This is your chance to decide if you want to move forward with this team. VERIFY INSURANCE: After deciding to move forward, you will want the provider you’ve selected to ensure that they are in-network. If not, there are usually different steps you can take to get approval for out-of-network providers. Either way, you will have to know! ASSESSMENT: The ABA Team will conduct an assessment for your child. This will help them design a customized plan that will help meet their goals. Your provider will send the proposed plan to the insurance company for them to authorize services. TEAM MEETING: You will meet with your child’s case supervisor and discuss the plan they designed. This is a chance for you to voice your opinions and learn about their recommendations. IT’S GO TIME: Your child will take their first step on a life changing journey.
