The Posts: While building a gate, the carpenter carefully installs the posts. He takes his time to ensure the posts are leveled and buried deep beneath the ground. A wise carpenter knows that a gate that looks good but is not properly installed is worthless. At Gateway, much like the carpenter, we spend time teaching those foundational skills that are meaningful and functional and are not concerned about what makes us look good. If our foundation isn’t solid, the rest of the gate won’t hold.
The Hinge: Without proper maintenance, our hinges will squeak. We encourage a balance between work and play for all to keep things swinging smoothly.
The Rails: The rails on our gates are more than just aesthetics-- they give us extra support while helping us catch a glimpse of what lies on the other side. That means we must respect the people that are sometimes overlooked- our team members and families. We hear what they say without judgement and encourage them to lead.
The Latch: The latch is the mechanism that opens the gate, just as communication is the mechanism that opens the world to us. Teaching people to communicate is always our number one priority in treatment. For without the latch, the gate remains locked.
The Path: The gate connects one path to another. We respect each individual to choose their own path without inflicting our own values on them. We follow your lead. We merely provide the tools to help you open that gate to the path of your choosing.
